SUBJECT: CATA Summer Conference

Plans for Summer Conference 2019 are now beginning to develop. Please allow this to serve as your “First Call” to this big event to be held at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo! The conference officially begins on Monday, June 24, 2019, with pre-conference activity beginning on Sunday, June 23, 2019.

Conference registration MUST be submitted online this year. You can submit everything electronically by following the procedures outlined on our online registration - NO LONGER AVAILABLE. Once you have input your information, the final page will contain a receipt number, please print a copy of this page for your records and for your district. You will also receive an email confirmation confirming that you are registered. We strongly suggest that you pre-register for Summer Conference before June 1st, otherwise, some of the meal functions may no longer be available and the registration fee increases.

Agriskills will again be split between Sunday and Thursday: There will be two agriskills sessions on Sunday, June 23, then the remaining session on Thursday afternoon, June 27.

CATA Governing Board:  Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., CATA Governing Board will meet in Erhart Agriculture 10-223, for their semi-annual meeting.

New Teacher Orientation:  University Teacher Educators, Visions 2030, and CATA President, Robin Grundmeyer are planning an exciting and rewarding orientation program for all individuals who have not previously particpated in Summer Conference on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.  They will meet with the new teachers in Erhart Agriculture 10-206. 

Conference Registration:  Registration will be conducted at the Oppenheimber Family Equine Center on Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., then again on Monday morning from 7:00 to 7:45 a.m. outside the Performing Arts Center.  The first General Assembly will start promptly at 8:00 a.m.  Late registration will be handled in the Conference Operations Office in Erhart Agriculture 10-241. 

Monday Night Activities: Chico State Alumni Social is at the Sands Hotel starting at 5:30 p.m. The Conference Reception hosted by Fresno State is at a new location this year - Dallidet Adobe and Gardens located at 1185 Pacific Street in San Luis Obispo, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. O.H. Kruse is hosting a social starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Creeky Tiki located at 782 Higuera Street. Additional activities are bowling at 7:00 p.m. at the UU Bowling Alley and the Hack 'n Blast at.San Luis Sportsman’s Club on Highway 1 (preregistration is required).

Farm Show and Idea Show:  Farm Shop - Building 9 will once again be the location for the Farm Show and Idea Show on Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:45 p.m. 

Family BBQ:  The Family BBQ on Tuesday will be at the Sports Complex on the Cal Poly Campus this year.  The fun starts at 4:45 p.m. with softball, corn hole, children's games and shaved ice, with dinner following at 6:30 p.m.

The Curricular Code Committee meetings are Tuesday, June 25. Coaches and others interested in the “C" list contests should plan to meet from 2:45 to 4:50 p.m.

The South Coast Region is diligently working on plans for an outstanding evening at the Annual Banquet. It will once again be held at the Madonna Inn Expo Hall, so buy your ticket(s) early to guarantee a seat. Babysitting will no longer be available on the Cal Poly SLO campus, if you need a babysitter go to You can screen local babysitters that will come to your hotel, then just post a job for that night. Babysitters come prescreened and with references. Banquet is sold out, send or call to request your name be put on the waiting list.

Join licensed group fitness instructor and agriculture teacher Jason Ferreira as he leads you through a fun filled fitness Zumba class. You are just a "step" away from improving your quality of life while also incorporating healthy lifestyles into your chapter activities! This 60 minute sweat session will get your body moving and endorphins soaring leaving you addicted and wanting to do it again. Wear comfortable workout shoes, bring plenty of water to keep hydrated, and a sweat towel to wipe off the glow. See you at Embassy Suites on Tuesday, June 25 at 6:00 a.m. in the SLO Ballroom North.


  • Summer Conference 2 CEUs:  - $145 (You must sign in at both Regional Meetings, both Tuesday and Wednesday Professional Development Sessions, and an Operations Division Meeting, or a Secondary/Postsecondary Division Meeting to receive credit.) 
  • Agriskills Institute 1 CEU:  - $90 (To receive credit you must register for the Institute and attend three half day sessions or one full day and one half day session.)
